It has been reported that the Covid-19 lock-down has resulted in cleaner air. Using 2020 statistical data, (see READ MORE) the number of commercial flights on May 4th is less than 1/3 of the number on February 10th. Using data from 2007 artist CHRIS JORDAN (in a piece measuring 5' x 8') depicted 11,000 jets and trails -- equal to the number of commercial flights over the U.S. every 8 hours. Of his "Running the Numbers" series he says, "It’s like our entire consumer society is happening invisibly... Employing themes such as near versus far, and one versus many, I hope to raise some questions about the roles and responsibilities we each play as individuals in a collective that is increasingly enormous, incomprehensible, and overwhelming."
